What will children learn?
At Thundersley Primary School, we aim to inspire pupils’ curiosity and fascination about the world around them. We do this through a high-quality curriculum, which allows the children to explore the world around them, both locally and across the globe, comparing places and locations, whilst honing our geographical skills. We incorporate fieldwork into our learning to help foster a love of the environment. We ensure children are aware of the connection between humans and the physical geography of the world.
How will children learn?
At Thundersley Primary School, we will achieve this by:
- teaching stimulating and challenging Geography lessons.
- learning and perfecting geographical skills, building on skills learnt in previous years.
- providing opportunities to work within the school grounds.
- ensuring that every child can fully engage and challenge their thinking.
- providing opportunities for children to explore new places through visits.
- progressive trips – each year building on the previous.
- inviting speakers to talk about their careers based in Geography.
- celebrating Earth Day and understanding modern issues such as sustainability and climate change.
