Pupil Premium at Thundersley
At Thundersley, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to be the best they can be, whatever their background or circumstances.
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools to improve educational outcomes for children who may face disadvantage. We use this funding carefully to help remove barriers to learning, provide additional support where needed and ensure that every child can take full advantage of the opportunities available at school.
Our approach is based on knowing our children well and understanding their individual needs. We focus on high-quality teaching, targeted academic support and wider opportunities that help children develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.
We are particularly committed to ensuring that financial circumstances do not prevent children from participating fully in school life. This includes supporting access to educational visits, enrichment activities and other experiences that help children discover new interests, develop their talents and broaden their horizons.
Could your child be eligible for Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium funding is available to schools for children who meet certain eligibility criteria. This includes children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals, or who have been eligible within the previous six years, as well as some children who are or have previously been in local authority care.
If you think your child may be eligible, or would like some advice about free school meals and Pupil Premium, please contact our school office. We are always happy to help, and all enquiries will be treated sensitively.
Even if your child currently receives Universal Infant Free School Meals in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, it is still important to check whether they qualify for benefits-related free school meals, as this can provide additional funding for the school.
Our Pupil Premium Strategy
Our Pupil Premium Strategy Statement explains how we use the funding to support disadvantaged pupils, the evidence behind our approach and how we evaluate the difference it makes.
